Stockholm Arlanda Airport is the main international airport in Stockholm. It is located in Sigtuna Municipality, 37 km from the Swedish capital. It is the largest airport in Sweden and also the third-largest airport in the Nordic countries, located within Stockholm county and the province of Uppland. This airport serves as a major hub for Scandinavian Airlines and also Norwegian Air Shuttle.Public transport: You can easily reach the city center by train or by bus. Both journeys take approximately 25 – 35 minutes, depending on the traffic.

  • Train: The Arlanda express train departures every 15 minutes from the Arlanda Airport to Stockholm Central Station and viceversa. Travel time is only 20 minutes, depending on a traffic. Check out the timetable here.  One – way tickets cost 280 EK (≈ 27.00 €), while return tickets cost 540 SEK (≈52.00 €). You can buy the tickets on ticket vending machine at the airport or online through Arlanda Express website.
  • Bus: The Flygbussarna Airport Coaches are departing every 10 – 15 minutes from Arlanda Airport to the City Terminal. Travel time is around 35 – 45 minutes. Route: Arlanda Airport Terminal 5 – Arlanda Airport Terminal 4 – Arlanda Airport Terminal 2 – 3 – Järva krog – Frösunda – Haga Norra – Haga Södra – Norra Stationsgatan – S:t Eriksplan – Stockholm City. One way ticket costs 119 SEK (≈ 11.52 €)

Taxi: If you prefer a more comfortable ride from the airport, we definitely recommend taking a taxi. The journey takes approximately around 40 minutes, depending on the time of your arrival. Please note that taxi fares in Sweden are not regulated, which means that prices can vary between companies. Make sure the check out the best option before arrival.

Transfer: For those of you who don’t like using the public transport services or taxi services, consider booking a private transfer which will wait for you in front of the airport. The transfer company will send a driver to pick you up in front of the terminal and take you to your destination.

Renting a car at Arlanda airport: If you prefer to reach the city on your own, the best option is to rent a car directly at the airport. Offices of several car rental companies such as Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz are located at Arlanda’s car rental area, while Sixt is located at the Arlanda low – price parking facility. Renting a bus at Arlanda airport: Larger groups of passengers should rent a bus at the airport. We recommend you to book your bus online so the rental companies have enough time to advise you on the meeting point.

Q: I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

A:
No, it won’t be a problem. The last train from Arlanda airport to Stockholm is departing at 01:00 a.m. However, you can always take a taxi to city center, just make sure to check its price before arrival.

Q: I have an early morning departure from the airport, are there any airport hotels I can stay at?

A:
Yes, there are two hotels nearby where you can stay overnight if you have an early flight to catch. The Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport is located inside SkyCity, between Terminals 4 and 5. One night in average costs 115 €. The Radisson Blu SkyCity Hotel is located within walking distance of all terminals at the airport. The price for one night is around 122 €.

Q: I would like to visit Stockholm in between flights. Is that possible?

Yes, the city center is only 20 minutes away by train or 35 minutes by bus. Make sure to double check your timing in order to avoid being late to your flight.

Q: Can I exchange money at the airport to pay for my transfer?

Yes, there is Forex Bank at Terminal 2, X – Change, SEB Change and Global Refund at Terminal 5. ATMs are located at Terminal 2, 4, 5 and SkyCity. We advise you bring money with you as the exchange rates can be pretty high.

Q: I am continuing my journey outside Stockholm Arlanda. Are there any direct lines to other destinations?

Yes, there are several transfer companies that offer a direct connection to different national and international destinations. The largest airline SAS offers services to Oslo, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Norwegian Air Shuttle, the second largest operator offers services to Florida, London, Copenhagen and Agadir.
