Airports in Northwest Territories

There is a total of 17 airports in Canada’s Northwest Territories with scheduled commercial flights. Yellowknife airport and Inuvik airport are the busiest, and the only ones with significant passenger numbers. Air Canada and Canadian North both have regular flights from these airports. As for the rest of Northwest Territories airports, we’ve included a map to better understand where each airport is located.

Yellowknife Airport  – IATA Code – YZF  (~ 0.5 M passengers)

The Yellowknife airport is the main airport in the Northwest Territories, it is located 5 km northwest of the city center.  From the airport there are frequent flights to Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver operated by Air Canada Express, WestJet Encore and Canadian North, which also have scheduled flights to many smaller airports in the region. Also the airlines, Air North, Air Tindi, Northwestern Air and North-Wright Airways operate scheduled flights from the airport. There is no scheduled transportation between the airport and the city.

Inuvik (Mike Zubko) Airport  – IATA Code – YEV

The Inuvik Airport is the airport in Northwest Territory with the most scheduled flights.  Air North has flights to Dawson City, Old Crow and Whitehorse, Canadian North has scheduled flights to Edmonton, Norman Wells, Yellowknife, also Kenn Borek Air and North-Wright Airways operate a few flights from the airport.
