Airports in Alabama

Alabama Airports handle a total of more than 3.5 million passengers each year. Currently, there are 2 small hub and 3 nonhub airports in Alabama.  There are also dozens of general aviation airports which don’t provide commercial flights. Only Birmingham airport and Huntsville Airport provide a significant number of yearly passengers. As for the airlines, American Airlines, Delta Connection, American Eagle and United are the ones offering most flights.

Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport serves cities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa in Alabama state. Airport is located about 8 km northeast of the city centre and about 100 km from Tuscaloosa. One modern terminal handles more than a million passengers, coming mostly from American Airlines, Delta, Southwest Airlines and United. Therefore, BHM airport is focused mostly on US destinations, serving over 100 daily flights to 15 cities. There is no public transport available from the airport, but passengers can use taxis or car rentals.

Huntsville International Airport – IATA Code – HSV (~ 0.6 M Passengers)

Huntsville International Airport is an airport serving Huntsville city. Known locally as Carl T. Jones Field, the airport is the largest in Northern Alabama. Similarly to BHM, Huntsville airport also offers mostly domestic flights. American Airlines, Delta, United and Silver Airways handle most of the daily flights. Atlanta, Dallas and Charlotte are the top 3 cities connected with HSV airport. Airport is located 22 km from Huntsville, however, it’s also a good choice when visiting cities like Decatur and Athens.

This week, the city of Gulf Shores AL celebrated the completion of its new ACTC at ‘Gulf Shores International Airport,” (formerly “Jack Edwards National.”(Alabama’s 2nd business airport, in number of operations.) Terminal to be ready next year. Gulf Shores & sister city, Orange Beach constitute a huge tourist Marie: 7,000,000 visitors last year. We expect many more now. Will you be listing it?l
