Airports in South Carolina

South Carolina currently has 6 airports which offer regular year round commercial flights. All of them are either small hub or nonhub airports, with Charleston Airport being the largest and busiest in state. American Airlines, Delta and United Airlines are the most common carriers operating at South Carolina airports. Charleston International Airport – IATA Code – CHS (~ 4.8 M Passengers)

Charleston Airport is the largest North Carolina airport, although still classified as one of small-hub US airports. Airport serves Charleston city and its surrounding area, like Mt. Pleasant and Francis Marion Forest. Exact airport location is 19 km NW of Charleston. There are 13 airlines at the airport, serving domestic flights. Delta is the busiest carrier, while Atlanta Airport is the most connected route. As for the transportation, CARTA offers regular buses from the airport.

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport – IATA Code – GSP (~ 2.5 M Passengers)

Greenville Airport, also known as Roger Milliken Field, is the second busiest airport in the state. Airport is located between the cities of Greenville and Spartanburg. More precisely, 20 km northeast of Greenville, and 30 km southwest of Spartanburg. 8 airport airlines serve domestic routes to Midwestern and East Coast cities. Airport is somewhat close to Nantahala National Forest, so it can be a good choice when traveling there. 

Myrtle Beach International Airport – IATA Code – MYR (~ 2.5 M Passengers)

Myrtle Beach Airport is a commercial airport located 6 km of Myrtle Beach, one of largest tourist places in South Carolina. Although there are year round flights, focus is on seasonal routes from and to the airport. Low-cost Spirit Airlines leads the way in terms of passenger numbers. And as for the transport, there are Coast RTA public buses, taxis and car rentals.
