1) Zlatni rat, Brač
One of the most beautiful beaches on the Croatian coastline is also the most remarkable landmark of the island of Brač. The very tip of this splendid beach keeps changing its shape due to the influence of waves, sea currents and winds, which makes it even more interesting to the tourists. The location is a protected area and a favourite place for surfers and kite-surfers from all around the world. Europe’s 3rd best beach destination of 2017 is surrounded by crystal clear sea and old pine trees creating natural shade. This fascinating 500-metre-long beach can accommodate over 10 000 people and it’s perfect both for groups of friends and families with children.
2) Sakarun, Dugi Otok
Sakarun or Saharun beach is located on the northwest coast of the Dugi Otok island. The beach is well known for its vivid landscape and 850 metres of white sand and pebble beach mixture, surrounded by pine trees providing a perfect shade during hot summer months. Shallow and crystal clear bay water makes Croatia’s most photographed beach an ideal place for families with children. The beach itself has small smooth pebbles and sand on one side, with bigger pebbles on the other, yet the sea floor is completely sandy. There are two facilities on the beach, offering food and drink, but the rest of this pristine coastline is unspoiled by man.
3) Stiniva, Vis
According to many, one of the best beaches in Europe, Stiniva is only accessible by hiking on a steep and narrow path or by a taxi boat from the Rukavac cove. The beach is breathtakingly secluded with a narrow sea entrance with crystal clear waters. Stiniva is located on the southern part of the island Vis and is surrounded by high cliffs, which provide a shade on one part of the beach so you can hide from the hot midday sun, since parasol and beach loungers are not available for rent. This 35-metre-long beach is a perfect spot for anyone who wants to emerge himself in the beautiful nature of Vis and escape from the crowds of the modern world.
4) Divna, Pelješac
Located on the northern shore of Pelješac, the Divna beach is nestled in the bay of Duba. It is a lovely combination of sand and gravel, with a sea boasting various shades of green and blue. The 200-metre-long beach also hosts a few houses and campsites in the area, due to which there are some facilities there, but it is still recommended to bring food and water, and, if possible, a parasol. Probably the best part of this beach is the proximity of a small inhabited island only a few meters swimming distance from the beach. After you visit this magnificent beach, you’ll understand why it is called Divna, which means ‘gorgeous’ in Croatian.
5) Raduča, Primošten
Raduča beach is located in Primošten, the more and more popular tourist destination. It is the favourite beach in the city both among locals and tourists, which is why it’s often overcrowded and people come very early in the morning to grab their spot. The beach is ideal for families with children, as well as for the elderly and couples. Fans of sport can enjoy tennis, volleyball, badminton and many other activities. Also, if you need a refreshment during the hot summer days, there is a bar with a big selection of drinks and a restaurant where you can try delicious Dalmatian dishes.
6) Banje, Dubrovnik
The closest beach to the old town of Dubrovnik, situated right beyond the 17th-century Lazareti, is one of the best known beaches in South Dalmatia. However, despite its vicinity to the city center, you must descend a flight of stairs in order to reach it, so it is not accessible to the handicapped and people in poor physical condition. The Banje beach offers a splendid view of old Dubrovnik and the beautiful unsettled island of Lokrum. On this beach equipped with showers, changing rooms, sun beds and parasols, you can also enjoy water sports, such as jet ski, paragliding, water tube, banana, etc. Due to its contents and accessibility, it is considered to be for adventurers and young people rather than families with children.
7) Kraljičina plaža, Nin
This 3-km-long sandy beach in the Nin lagoon has one of the most breathtaking views of Mount Velebit in the region. It is a fantastic vacation choice for families with small children. Nin is known as the biggest site of medicinal mud in Croatia and its peloid located next to the famous Queen’s beach attracts thousands of tourists each year. This mud has been used for more than 40 years in the therapy of various diseases. According to the choice of the American Travel Channel, Kraljičina plaža is at the top of the most beautiful beaches in the world, so it’s not just good for your health, it is also a gem of nature definitely worth your visit.
8) Kašuni, Split
Nestled on the southern foothills of Marjan, one of the symbols of Split, the Kašuni (or Kašjuni) beach is an ideal getaway in the pristine nature without all the hustle and bustle during the season. There are beach beds or parasols available for rent there, and two small bars where you can stop by for a refreshment as well. This beautiful sandy beach offers one of the best panoramic views of Split, perfect for tourists who want to discover the city from a bit different perspective. For even bigger fun, it is possible to rent kayak, seabobs and stand up paddle boards on the beach, ideal for creating new memories with your loved ones.
9) Saplunara, Mljet
Saplunara beach is a sandy beach situated on the southeastern part of the island of Mljet. For many endemic plants, both the beach and its surrounding were proclaimed a protected area. Saplunara is actually made of Vela and Mala Saplunara (Big and Small), both surrounded by a pine forest. As the water is shallow, it is perfect for families with children. In the nearby Blace bay, there is another sandy beach that looks like a crystal blue lagoon. Very quiet and undisturbed, these three beaches are fantastic places to spend some time enjoying the sea, sand and peaceful nature and to make most of your vacation.
10) Dubovica, Hvar
Dubovica is one of the most beautiful beaches not only on the island of Hvar, but also in the entire Dalmatia. This sandy beach is located in a cove protected by various winds and it is ideal for families with children and fans of diving who can explore the stunning world under water. Despite not having the best access (a tricky stroll down a rough path), the beach is extremely popular during the summer when tourists come to enjoy in this fascinating bay. There is also a restaurant nearby where you can try traditional Dalmatian specialties, dishes under the bell in particular.
