Katowice Airport Bus

Katowice International Airport (KTW), a former military airbase, is an airport located in Pyrzowice, 30 kilometers from Katowice, Poland. It consists of Terminal A and B (Departures) and Terminal C (Arrivals), and it has the fourth-biggest passenger flow in Poland. In 2018, the airport handled more than 4.8 million passengers, and it generally serves as a focus city for Enter Air, Small planet Airlines, Smartwings, Travel Service Polska and Wizz Air.

How to get from Katowice Airport to Katowice

Local bus

There is no direct option to the Katowice city center when it comes local buses. There is an option of taking a bus which passes through the airport to the 2 cities of Poland – buses no. 83 and 85 take you to Bytom, and bus no. 17 takes you to Mierzęcice. From both cities it is possible to take a bus directly to Katowice.

Train

There is currently no passenger rail link to the airport but building of a railway between Katowice and the airport is being planned in the further years.

Taxi service

If you prefer a more cosy ride which takes you to your hotel doorstep, consider taking a taxi. The airport has its official company Airport TAXI Service located at exits of the terminals A and B. This is always a better option than an unlicensed taxi since the prices are regulated. The ride to the Katowice city center will cost you 160zł (40 €), but if you decide to take a ride in an unlicensed taxi, make sure you always ask about the price of your desired destination before you get in the taxi. The journey from the airport to the city center takes approximately 30 minutes.

I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

No, there are shuttle buses which operate late at night, until approximately 3 am. On the other hand, in case you find yourself arriving when there is no single bus departing, there is always an option to take a taxi.

I would like to visit Katowice in between flights. Is that possible?

Sure. There is a good connection of the airport and the city center via shuttle buses which depart every hour, and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Unfortunately, luggage storage and lockers are not available.

Can I exchange money at the airport to pay for my transfer?

Sure, the airport has several ATMs but you will also find Currency Exchanges in the terminals A and B, in the public area.

Is there a free WiFi at Katowice Airport?

The airport offers free and unlimited WiFi Internet connection to all passengers.

I am continuing my journey outside Katowice. Are there any direct lines to other destinations?

Yes, there is LEO express company that offers direct transports from the airport to Rybnik, Gliwice, Ostrava, Częstochowa, Piotrków Trybunalski, Łódź, Toruń, Grudziądz, Gdańsk and Gdynia. Also, there are 3 bus lines that can take you to Mierzęcice and Bytom.   2. GETBYBUS says there is a Bus from Katowise Airport to City Centre But I read somewhere that there is not or there Was a service which is No longer available.
    What is the Sutuation ???
