• Copacabana – The most famous beach in Brazil and the world is located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. Yes, expect crowds, music and good vibrations all over this 4 km long sandy beach. You will find all kinds of facilities around, from restaurants and cafes to the most luxurious hotels. This is also a spot of some of the biggest celebrations in the city.
• Ipanema – If looking for a slightly more peaceful spot, you might find it on the nearby Ipanema beach. This beach became legendary partly thanks to the song The Girl from Ipanema. There are all sorts of facilities around, including outdoor-gyms. Also, the beach is one of the favourites among the surfers.
• Praia do Espelho – If crowded beaches are definitely not your choice, you will most likely find peace and solitude on Praia do Espelho. It is located in Trancoso in a perfect tropical setting. There are no facilities directly at the beach, but you will have to reach the nearby village. However, renting equipment such as chairs and tents is available.
• Caraiva – Located in Porto Seguro, Caraiva beach is still relatively unknown beach where you can escape the crowds. Kilometres of sand and crystal blue waters will provide you with serenity, while mules will bring you anything you want since all the vehicles are forbidden in the beach area. 
• Fernando De Noronha – This archipelago is located 350 km away from the Brazillian coast, but the amount of magnificent beaches it hides is incredible. Visitors can definitely find their ideal spot and enjoy marine life while feeling perfectly safe in this highly monitored archipelago. 

The Carnival

The Carnival of Brazil is the largest festivity in the world and Rio Carnival is the largest carnival celebration according to the Guinness World Records. There is no better party on earth such as in cities like Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo on those days before the Ash Wednesday. Huge organized parades led by samba schools fill the streets. Everyone sings, dances and wears the most amazing costumes you could imagine. Also, Carnival balls are held in venues all over the cities with its specific sub-themes of carnival evenings.

The origins of the Brazil carnival date back to the Age of Discoveries, when the first Portuguese settlers brought it from Europe to the colonized Brazil in the 1600s. The carnival is actually a Christian tradition of the final celebration the night before 40 days of Lent. 

If visiting Brazil during the Carnival, prepare for the massive crowds, even in the smaller cities. As the temperatures on these days can reach above 40°C, make sure your costume is light. However, indulge yourself to the samba rhythm and colourful crowds. 

Nature

As one of the largest countries in the world, Brazil boasts a huge area of nature with some of the most popular sites in the world. The mighty Amazon Rainforest is considered in Brazil as 60% of the forest belongs to the country. Amazonia represents half of the world’s remaining rainforests and features highly rich biodiversity. The second most important site of Brazil is the Iguazu Falls, the largest fall in the world shared with Argentina. 

Together with Iguazu Falls, Brazil boasts 72 national parks of which many are the biggest tourist attractions in the country. National parks such as Lencois Maranhenses, Monte Roraima and Chapada dos Veadeiros abound in mountains, rivers, falls, lakes, canyons and valleys. • Açaí – You probably heard about the super-food açaí fruit that can be combined with other fruits, granola or similar. This is a very popular food in coastal cities which can be found on every corner.
• Brigadeiros – This is a Brazilian version of chocolate truffle which can be topped with sprinkles, white chocolate and filled with various fillings.
• Empada – These snacks can be found as street food in Brazil. They are usually made of chicken, cream cheese, peas and corn. Other meat can be used instead of chicken. 
• Farofa – This is a unique dish that combines fried tapioca flour with fried bacon, rice and beans. The dish is very mushy and is served as a side or main dish.
• Pao de Queijo – This is actually a cheese bread with a long tradition of making. They are made of cassava flour and queijo Minas, a Brazilian type of cheese.
