How to get from Auckland Airport to Auckland

Bus

Auckland Airport offers several bus companies that take you directly to the city centre of Auckland.

SkyBus express service operates 365 days a year, taking you to Auckland within an hour. Buses depart between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm. The same carrier provides transport from the domestic terminal to the international terminal in intervals of 30 minutes. Below you can check the details and purchase your tickets:

There are other carriers providing transport to several other nearby places:

  • 380 Airporter bus operates daily between Onehunga, Mangere Town Centre, and Manukau, via Papatoetoe and Onehunga Train Stations. From these train stations, you can continue to other places by train. Buses operate every 15-20 minutes and stop at both terminals. 
  • Bus 31 operates daily between Botany Town Centre and Mangere Town Centre via the Papatoetoe Train Station. Buses operate every 15 minutes during the day or every 30 minutes in the evening hours. 

NOTE: Auckland Airport is working on a simpler and more integrated public transport network that will intorudce new buses in the following years. 

Taxi

If you prefer a more comfortable ride and don’t like using public transport, taking a taxi might be an option. At Auckland Airport, you will find taxi ranks outside the Arrivals. The approximate price for a ride to Auckland is up to $75. We suggest you ask for the price before the ride. 

Transfer

Another way to travel from Auckland Airport is with a private, door-to-door transfer directly to your accommodation in the city. You can pre-book a transfer for a hassle-free experience, a professional driver will wait for you at the airport and take you to your destination.

Renting a car

Those who prefer to explore the area on their own, the best option would be to rent a car directly at the airport. You will find offices of several rental agencies at the airport. However, you can always rent a car online and avoid potential queues at the airport.

Larger groups of passengers should consider renting a bus at the airport. However, it is recommended to book it online, so the bus rental companies have enough time to advise you on the meeting point and all other information.
