A Coruña is a city in Galicia, an autonomous community of Spain. The city’s airport, formerly known as Alvedro Airport, serves the area of northwestern Spain. It is located in Colleredo, 7km from the city centre. Approximately 1 million of passengers use the airport each year.

How to get from A Coruña Airport to A Coruña

Local bus

This is the only line (line 4051) which connects the airport to the city of Coruña. It stops in Puerta Real, Marina, Plaza de Orense, Avenida A. Molina Alcampo, Portazgo, Corveira and Vilaboa.

  • A single ticket costs 1,50€.
  • On working days the bus runs from 07:15 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. every 30 minutes.
  • On Saturdays the bus runs from 07:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • On Sundays and holidays the line goes from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Taxi service

In the Arrivals area of the airport you will find many taxis waiting to take you to your destination if you wish to avoid crowd in a public bus. The price for a one way ride is about 20,00€. NOTE: Make sure to ask the driver about the price prior to your journey, because taxi fares vary depending on time of the day and the season.

Transfer

You can book a private door-to-door transfer which will wait for you at the airport. Save up some money booking it online in advance and aviod getting  overcharged, which is sometimes often scenario with taxis.

Renting a car at A Coruña airport

 

If you wish to see the area on your own, renting a car is the best option for you. Car rental companies are situated at the airport’s terminal. You can choose among Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. To avoid waiting in line, rent a car online.

This is an ideal solution for larger groups of people arriving. Note that a bus has to be booked in advance, after which the company will inform you on the meeting point.

I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

No, the bus which connects the airport to the city of A Coruña runs all day long, but in case you arrive after midnight, you can take a taxi for a reasonable price.

I have an early morning departure from the airport, are there any airport hotels I can stay at?

Yes, you can stay at Hotel A’Marisquiera only 2.5km away from the airport or at Residencia Universitaria Siglo XXI. However, the airport is close to the city centre, so we recommend to book a room there and see a bit of the city as well.

I would like to spend one day in A Coruña in between flights. Is that possible?

Yes, of course, the airport is very close to the city centre. The best way to do so is to take the bus which will take you directly from the airport to the city centre and is the most convenient mean of transportation. Unfortunately the airport has no luggage storage office, so you need to take your luggage to A Coruña bus station where you can leave your stuff and sightsee without worry.

I am continuing my journey outside A Coruña. Are there any direct lines from the airport to other cities?

From the airport, no. However, go to the city centre and check all the possible routes at the bus station. Porto and Santiago de Compostela are the most popular destinations, but you can check others as well. Can I exchange the money at the airport to pay for my transfer?

Yes, there are several exchange offices and ATMs at the airport, working 24/7, but it would be better to exchange the money before the trip and have some euros on you since the rate will be a lot higher on the spot and no currency other than euro is accepted.
