As a result, we are here to introduce you to all the Batman filming locations that will be shown in the film.

The latest Batman movie directed by Matt Reeves features award-winning actors Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The focus is on a younger version of Bruce Wayne pursuing serial killer Riddler (played by Paul Dano), who is terrorizing the elite of Gotham city. After two delays, the film was finally released on March 4th in theaters.

Liverpool, England, UK

Did you know that Liverpool is the fifth most visited city in the UK? Or that it is the tenth-largest English district? Apart from the Premier League football team Liverpool FC and the Beatles, this city has so much to offer in terms of culture, architecture, and art.

Not many know, but Liverpool is second to London in the number of national museums, art galleries, listed buildings, and listed parks in the UK. It is not a surprise that some of the listed buildings found their place in the movie. All the movie locations in Liverpool are listed down below!

St. George’s Hall

St George’s Hall is a neoclassical building in the center of Liverpool, directly across from the Lime Street Railway station. It houses law courts and concert halls and has served as Gotham city hall in the movie. But this is not the first time it appeared in the film. The imposing building can also be seen in Fantastic Beasts. The building itself is regarded as one of the most beautiful neo-Grecian structures in the world. Moreover, its place is on the Grade I listed building list.

The city hall is open every day except on Sundays between 9:30 AM and 4:45 PM (Fridays and Saturdays opening hours are between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM).

Royal Liver Building

Another Batman filming location and Grade I listed building from the movie is this spectacular UK’s first skyscraper, Royal Liver Building. Any architecture enthusiast can surely recognize its importance as it’s one of the best examples of early modern architecture and was one of the first buildings that used reinforced concrete.

The building is adorned with two copper Liver birds over the roof, which are, according to the legend, protecting the sailors and the city. The significance of Royal Liver also lies in two clock towers that have clock faces with a diameter larger than Big Ben’s, making it one of Liverpool’s landmarks.

Anfield Cemetery

Anfield Cemetery, also known as the City of Liverpool cemetery, is the third oldest burial place in Liverpool, opened in 1860. Also, another one among exciting Batman filming locations. Upon visiting the cemetery, you are welcomed by a beautiful neo-gothic Walton Lane Lodge with its impressive rooftop and portal.

The cemeteries are not on everyone’s bucket list of places to visit. However, you should make an exception for Anfield as it is associated with 12 sandstone buildings designated by English Heritage. Moreover,  the cemetery grounds found their way on the Grade II National Register of Historic Parks list.

Wellington Memorial Statue

Following the Duke of Wellington’s death, the Wellington Memorial Statue, commonly known as the Waterloo Memorial, was erected as a memorial of the Duke’s achievements. The monument is located at the intersection of William Brown Street and Lime Street. In the film, you can recognize the location as a Halloween market. The monument is, like previously mentioned locations, listed as a designated Grade II listed building in the National Heritage List for England.

County Sessions House

Wondering where they shot Gotham central courthouse? How about a former Liverpool courthouse, The County Sessions House? This amazing neoclassical building was recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It also has one of the most impressive facades adorned with neo-Grecian columns.

Unfortunately, you can admire the building only from the outside, as it’s closed to the general public.

Walker Art Gallery

Who would’ve guessed that an art gallery can become a Gotham general hospital? Any art lover will surely appreciate this beautiful neoclassical building that includes artworks by famous painters such as Rembrandt, Poussin, and Degas.

If you find your way strolling down William Brown Street (a street famous for being the only one in the entire UK to house only museums, galleries, and libraries), we highly suggest you visit Walker Art Gallery.

The Walker Art Gallery is open every day besides Mondays, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Admission is free to all visitors except during special temporary exhibitions or events.

Kingsway Tram Tunnel, Southampton Row

Kingsway Tram is a one-of-a-kind tunnel in central London connecting the lines in the north and the south. The London city council built the tunnel in 1906. but sadly, it tunnel closed 5 decades later. However, if you fancy experiencing London transportation from 70 years ago, make sure to visit this tunnel as more than half of it still exists with its original features!

Printworks Nightclub

Not so long after the trailer’s premiere, many hardcore fans and movie buffs identified the Penguin’s iconic Iceberg lounge nightclub from the comic book as actually Printworks. This internationally renowned club is located in Rotherhithe, South London, and is famous for various events and statement lighting.

Two Temple Place

Also known as Astor House, the Two Temple Place building facing the river Thames is famous for its impressive architecture and workmanship of the late Victorian period. In 2011 it was opened as a public gallery and hosts multiple events. Due to its spectacular interior, it is considered by many as London’s hidden gem.

It is possible to visit the Astor House and explore the interior as it hosts multiple events. You can find various exhibitions without any entrance fee though the usual price range is between £5.00 and  £10.00. This country is famous for its hauntingly beautiful architecture and enchanting nature. No wonder it have found their way on big screens numerous times. Necropolis Cemetery, Glasgow

The first of two Batman filming locations that happened to be in a movie is Necropolis Cemetery in the center of Glasgow. It is said that inside the cemetery 50 000 people have been buried.

Besides the impressive number, Necropolis is recognizable for its alluring Victorian style and bewitching sculptures found on tombs.

The cemetery can be reached on foot in about 30 minutes from the center. It is open every day between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM.

Hartwood Psychiatric Hospital, Shotts

In search of mysterious off-the-beaten-path places? We present you Gotham general hospital or better known as Hartwood Psychiatric Hospital.

This old asylum has been in use for a little over 100 years until its closure in 1999. Briefly after, the insides of the facility and two clock towers got destroyed in the fire. Today the building lies abandoned and is encircled by a 10-foot-high metal fence.

Studios in England, UK

Leavesden Studios (WB Studios London)

Undoubtedly you heard of the famous Leavesden studio located just a few miles outside of London. It is home to movies such as Harry Potter, Justice League, Wonder Woman, Fantastic Beasts, and now Batman.

The studio currently offers several Harry Potter tours with a price range from 107€ to 405 € and can be booked online. But bear in mind that the opening hours vary throughout the year therefore make sure to check the calendar before booking your tour.

Cardington Airship Hangars, Bedfordshire

Cardington Airship, formerly known as Royal Air Force Cardington, was once an air force station in Bedfordshire, England during World War. Due to its massive scale, it became a favorite pick for movie producers and has hosted multiple Blockbuster movies.

The remarkable height of 55m (180ft) enabled producers to operate in an unrestrained space and create some of the most impressive scenes in movie history!

Luckily, the studio is not soundproof. So if you find yourself nearby you might just get a glimpse of the “behind the scenes” atmosphere.

Chicago, Illinois, USA

Do you remember the iconic bat signal shining through the night sky? Ever wondered where the iconic skyline was from? How about in Chicago, a city famous for its impressive skyscrapers and 1920s gangsters such as Al Capone.

The Windy city served as Gotham city for years until the setting moved to Pittsburgh. Imagine the surprise when we heard that Chicago will be serving as Gotham city once again!

      the building is shown in a scene where the character Pete Savage, a police commissioner, is giving a statement to the press about the murder.
