Hi! I am confused about the airport with the code ZSB. I am aware of SZG, but it appears on Google that there is another airport with the code ZSB that is at the Salzburg Central Train Station. Pardon my utter confusion, but is there another airport located at or next to the main train station there? Please help. Thank you!
Dear Patzi and Kahlil,
Salzburg Airport (SZG) is the only airport in Salzburg whereas the code ZSB belongs to the Central Train Station.

Hi, I’m trying to figure out if there is way to take a train directly to or near the aiport in Salzburg. I’ll be coming from Munich by train to Salzburg to head back out of town. Are there at least taxis outside of the train station that can take me directly to the airport?

As it is stated in the blog post, bus line 2 operates every day between the airport and Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). The link to the bus timetable is also provided in the post.

Dear Marie,
First you need to reach Salzburg Hauptbahnhof and then go by train to St Johann im Pongau where you will transfer to bus line 530 which goes to Wagrain. Not really sure if there is a depature available at this time of the day so I suggest to get informed at the main train station in Salzburg.

arrive in salzburg airport at 14.00pm, will i make the 14.47pm bus to zell am zee?
Hi Joan,
it all depends on how long it will take you to clear the custom, take your luggage and (if necessary) do the COVID-19 testing.
Also, that largely depends on the number of passengers on your flight.
However, in the best case scenario, you should catch the bus.

I want to get from SZG to Schladming is there a bus from the airport or do i have to get bus 2 and then the train?
Hi David,
yes, the best option is to take a bus no. 2 from the airport, then change to a train to Schladming at Salzburg Main Station.

I go to Salzburg often and have to get a taxi from the airport to the city. When I went in February the taxi driver charged €30 he seemed to take a longer route for no reason. Having never paid so much before, what should I do if this happens when I go in August?
Hi,
in that case, we suggest you avoid taxis and decide between the local bus and a train if possible.
In case you really prefer taking a taxi instead of public transport, we suggest you ask for the price before the ride.
Best,
GBB Team

Do ticket machines, bus drivers and taxi drivers take credit cards? Or should I exchange money to EURO?
Thanks you!
Hi Antje,
credit cards are generally accepted, but I recommend having some Euros on hand for small purchases and places where cards might not be accepted. Ticket machines for public transportation, like buses and trams, usually accept both cash and cards. Bus drivers usually accept cash for tickets, and taxi drivers typically take credit/debit cards. Smaller businesses usually prefer cash, and most restaurants accept cards, especially in tourist areas. You can exchange money at the airport, local banks, or ATMs to make sure you have Euros for your trip.

I am coming to Kitzbuhel with my daughter on Aug 24-Aug 30 . We arrive at Salzburg airport from Edinburgh. Is there a travel concession ticket we can buy at the airport that we can use during our stay?
Hi Jimi,
you can purchase ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) tickets at the airport or online, with advance booking discounts and the potential ÖBB Vorteilscard Family for 50% off fares. There’s also the Kitzbüheler Alpen Sommer Card that offers access to cable cars and lifts in the Kitzbühel region. The Salzburg Card provides free public transport within Salzburg if you plan to visit the city. Also, check Verkehrsverbund Tirol (VVT) and Salzburg Verkehr for regional passes. You can purchase tickets at Salzburg Airport’s machines and counters or online for possible discounts.

Hello there, I am confused with the ticket for bus from Salzburg international airport SZG, the main sites I read said the bus 2 is just outside of airport (and there are videos also about this), but when I tried to book for ticket, it says I have to walk 700m or about 10 or so minutes (via a tunnel under the runway) to reach the bus stop. Is it safe to walk and walkway properly lighted since our flight arrives at 10:30pm from Frankfurt. Taxi is so expensive for a short trip to Salzburg HBF. So why do passengers have to walk that far? There was a post earlier about it but kindly clarify. Thanks!
Hi Felipe,
the bus stop for Bus 2 from Salzburg Airport to Salzburg HBF has been temporarily moved about 700 meters from the terminal, requiring a 10-15 minute walk through a tunnel under the runway. The route is safe and well-lit, even at night, but could be inconvenient with luggage, especially with your late arrival at 10:30 pm. This change is probably because of ongoing construction. The bus is definitely the most cost-effective but, if the walk feels too daunting, you could go with taxi, ride-sharing, or checking if your hotel offers a shuttle service.

Thanks for the reply,Marija. Will just book a taxi or uber then…
Hi Felipe,
no problem! If you have any more questions, I’m here for you.
