Leipzig/Halle Airport is the 14th largest airport by passengers in Germany, serving the cities of Leipzig in Saxony and Halle in Saxony-Anhalt. It is located in Schkeuditz, approximately 20 km from Leipzig city centre and around 28 km from Halle city center.

Getting from Leipzig Airport to Leipzig

The LEJ Airport and Fritzsche company offer a minibus shuttle service available 24/7 but you have to pre-book it (at least one week before departure). The shuttle bus has room for up to 8 people and runs to and from destinations within a 45 km radius of the airport.
Bus
There are 2 bus lines, line 202 and 206, that regularly operate between Leipzig Airport, Schkeuditz and Delitzsch. Buses are operated by DB Bus and you can find them in parking lot P3. The tickets are sold online or you can get them on board. They arrive at the Leipzig, Hauptbahnhof/Ostseite station and the journey takes around 40 min.

Train
Taking a train from the airport to the Leipzig city center is probably the best option and the fastest one. The trains run frequently and are quite cheap.
The LEJ Airport has its own train station (Leipzig/Halle Flughafen) located just underneath the Main Terminal. The station links to Deutsche Bahn’s local (S-Bahn) as well as long-distance (IC train) services.
S-Bahn
The S-Bahn (lines S5 and S5X) operates every 30 min between Halle, Leipzig, Altenburg and Zwickau. The journey to Leipzig main station takes approximately 15 min. Tickets for S-Bahn cost approximately € 5 for adults and € 3 for children.
IC train
As to IC trains, there are two lines that operate to and from the airport and they run every 2 hours:
