Getting from Bali Airport to Denpasar
As previously mentioned, the Bali Airport is only 13 km from the Bali Capital city of Denpasar, which is around 25 minutes by car. Find all the information about the transfer possibilities from the airport to Denpasar below!
Airport Bus
There are no shuttle bus services provided at the airport. However, the airport is connected with the city by public transport.
Bus
The Bali Airport is relatively well connected by public transport with the cities. There are three possible routes: Ngurah Rai Airport – Tabanan, Bali Ngurah Rai Airport – Jimbaran – Nusa Dua, and Bali Ngurah Rai Airport – Kuta – Legian – Denpasar – Batubulan.
To get to Denpasar, walk 500 meters from the airport to the station and wait for bus number K2B. The bus departs every 30 minutes from 5:00 AM till 7:30 PM. However, if you are arriving in the evening, you might need to find other ways of transportation.
Minibus Bemo
Minibusses, also known as Bemo, are highly common in Bali and a favorite means of transportation among locals. They are also the cheapest transportation in Bali but not the most convenient as they are often uncomfortable.
Bemos are open-air mini buses with benches facing one another instead of seats. Also, note that they charge more to tourists, so we recommend practising your haggling skills.
Apart from public Bemos, there are private Bemos that will charge even more. To travel from the airport to Denpasar, walk out of the airport and exit the road. After that, raise your hand when you see one riding down the road.
Train
There is no railway in Bali at the moment, but there are plans to build a railway connecting major towns with the airport.
Taxi
Taxis are undoubtedly the most convenient way of transportation in Bali as they are available 24/7. The best reputation has the Bluebird Taxis, which are entirely blue and have the brand logo on the sides.
Notice that there might be other blue taxis, but if they do not have a logo, you can expect to get charged more. Another thing you should keep in mind to avoid scammers is that the taxi has a taximeter.
In the airport, find taxi kiosks installed where you can book your taxi more conveniently. The usual price from the airport to Denpasar is around 15 euros for a regular car.
Car hire
If you don’t want to depend on public transport or simply enjoy exploring Bali on your own, renting a car might be the perfect option for you! Luckily, there are several car hire options available. The most popular car rental companies are Kayak, Priceline, and Avis. To avoid the hassle, we recommend renting your car online in advance. You can also rent a car at the airport. The average price is around 63 euros per day.
Transfers
Lastly, if you prefer convenient online ways of booking transport in advance, a door-to-door transfer is a great option. A professional driver will wait and welcome you at the airport when you arrive and take you directly to your accommodation in the city.
