Southampton Airport (SOU) is an international airport serving Southampton, Hampshire in the United Kingdom, located around 6 km from Southampton city center. It is among the top 20 busiest airports in the UK with nearly 2 million passengers per year. The airport also serves as a hub for Flybe airline carrier.

How to get from Southampton Airport to Southampton

Airport bus

Uni-link U1C bus operates between the airport and Southampton city center, also stopping by the Southampton University and the Waterfront.

Buses depart every 7-8 minutes on weekdays during the day and every 20 minutes in the evening hours. During the weekends and holidays, buses depart every 10-15 minutes.

There is also a night line on Fridays and Saturdays departing every hour, starting from 1:00 am.

You can also catch a direct bus to several other destinations. Bus line X4 by Xelabus takes you to Eastleigh and Hedge End. Also, Megabus departs from the airport making a first stop in Oxford and the last one in Sunderland.

Train

Trains depart from Southampton Airport Parkway Station which is only a minute walk away from the airport terminal. Every 10 minutes direct trains depart to Southampton Central Station.

You can book your tickets online for discounted prices or simply buy them at the ticket machine in the Arrivals area.

From Southampton Airport Parkway Station you can directly get to several other destinations such as Winchester, Bournemouth, Reading, Portsmouth and London Waterloo.

    I can’t find a proper link from SOU to Heathrow

      Hi Gerry,

      there are several ways to travel from SOU to LHR. However, it includes a combinations of train and bus.
      Probably the most convenient option is to take a CrossCountry train to Reading, and then switch to a Megabus to Heathrow.
      The entire journey takes about 1.5 hours.
