Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI) is the second international airport serving the city of Warsaw (after Warsaw Chopin). Though it serves Warsaw, it is actually located almost 40 kilometres from Warsaw, in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki.
According to the last available data, with a little over 3.1 million passengers, it’s the sixth busiest airport in Poland.
Warsaw Modlin serves only two airlines – Enter Air and Ryanair, which makes it very popular for low-cost flights to Warsaw.

How to get from the airport to Warsaw
Due to distance between Warsaw Modlin Airport and Warsaw, it takes about 45 minutes to reach the city center. But, no need to fret! There are a few transportation options if you want to get from Warsaw Modlin Airport to the center of Warsaw.

Bus
Unfortunately, the popular shuttle bus service that ModlinBus company previously offered has not been in function since March 2020. So, as of now, passengers who wish to travel by bus from Warsaw Modlin to Warsaw can choose between two carriers: Contbus and Flixbus.
The bus frequency depends on the time of day and airport traffic. Particularly, between 13:00 and 15:00, buses to Warsaw depart every half an hour. Furthermore, the average bus ticket price is 7-10€, depending on the carrier
Departures
Train
The airport is linked to Warsaw by trains operated by the Koleje Mazowieckie company. However, it is important to know that these trains do not depart directly from the airport but from Modlin train station.
- There is a regular shuttle bus operated by Koleje Mazowieckie which connects Warsaw Modlin Airport and Modlin train station. It runs every 15-30 min and it takes only 10 mins to get to the train station.
- Trains depart exactly 5 minutes after the bus arrives to the train station.
- Trains stop at several Warsaw’s stations: Wschodnia, Centralna, ZOO, Gdanska, Zachodnia and Warsaw Chopin Airport station
- The price of a single ticket to Warsaw is around 18 – 23 PLN (3.97€ – 4.99€) and the shuttle bus between Modlin Airport and Modlin railway station is included in the price. Tickets can be bought at the airport or online.
- Shuttle buses can carry up to 70 passengers, they are air-conditioned and suitable for disabled persons. The bus timetable is adapted to train departures/arrivals.

Taxi
Opti Taxi and Taxi Modlin are official airport taxi companies and their prices are fixed, but they depend on the city zone of Warsaw. Taxi fare to Warsaw is 119-199 PLN (27-46€) from 06:00 to 00:00 and 149-249 PLN (34-58€) from 00:00 to 06:00.
Furthermore, those who prefer ride share services can take an Uber from WMI to Warsaw. However, the prices for Uber rides are not fixed, and depend on your destination.
Transfer
Private door-to-door transfers are a great alternative to taxis, in case you don’t want to use public transportation. Also, they’re a cheaper option as well since the average price (to Warsaw) for 1 person is around 85 PLN (20€).
Renting a car at Warsaw Modlin airport
Car rental companies like Europcar, Avis and Express have their offices directly at Modlin Airport. But, there’s is always the possibility of renting a car online, and that way you can avoid the queue.

FAQ – bus and transport from Warsaw Modlin Airport
Although buses and trains are very frequent throughout the day, during the period from 00:00 to 04:20 there is no public transport to Warsaw. In that case, you can book a private transfer in advance or take a taxi to the city.
There are no hotels in the airport area, but the centre of Modlin is only 10 mins drive from the airport, and you will find many hotels there. Here are some of them: Hotel Sokołowska Airport Modlin, Hotel Royal, Hotel Modlin Conference & Spa.
Well, it is possible if you arrive early in the morning and your next flight is in the evening. Warsaw is 40 km from Warsaw Modlin Airport and it takes 45-50 minutes to get there outside rush hours, so have that in mind. And be careful not to miss the last bus to the airport, otherwise you’ll have to pay the taxi.
Yes, you can exchange your money at Kantor ICE (International Currency Exchange) office located at the airport, or withdraw money from several ATMs (Euronet, Grupa BPS) throughout the airport. However, we recommend having some Polish zloty on you, because currency rates are much higher at the airports.

Hi Bernard, as far as we are inform, there is no direct bus between Airport Modlin and Olsztyn, so you will probably have to first go to Warsaw and then catch a bus to Olsztyn from there on.

What RyanAir does labeling airports that are WAY outside the city as being in a city should be criminalized, as should their entire business model. At least this one isn’t 100km away like the one they use for “Paris”
