Da Nang International Airport is an airport serving Da Nang, which is the largest city in central Vietnam. It is also the third busiest airport in the country after Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai. Also, it is an essential gateway to central Vietnam. It carries 30 other airlines that serve this airport, including VietJet Air and Bamboo Airlines, and is a hub for Vietnam Airlines.
The airport has two terminals, one for domestic and one for international flights. The international terminal building opened at the end of 2011. Getting from Da Nang Airport to Da Nang
As previously mentioned, Da Nang Airport is situated only 2 km from the city centre which is a 5-10 minute car drive. Find all the information about the transfer possibilities from the airport to Da Nang below!
Airport Bus
There aren’t shuttle buses going from the airport to Da Nang, but many hotels in Da Nang and Hoi An area provide shuttle transportation for their guests.
Bus To Hoi An
However, shuttle buses by the company Hoi An Express offer transportation from the airport to Hoi An and vice versa. Namely, the popular city is situated 30 kilometres from Da Nang and does not have an airport. The shuttle buses depart from in front of the domestic terminal (T1) (gate 4) and leave the airport every hour/75 min from 05.00 to 23.00 (and 4.00 – 22.00 in the opposite direction). The price of a one-way ticket is around 120,000 VND (5€). Tickets can be booked online, but there are Ground Transport Desks at the Arrivals Hall where you can book them and get all the information.
City Bus
Besides the shuttle buses, there is also public Bus#1, the so-called “yellow buses” to Hoi An. However, to get on the bus, you need to walk to the bus stop which is 3 km away from the airport. They operate every 20 minutes from 5.30 to 17.30 every day and the price of the ticket is around 20,000 VND(0,8€).
There are also air-conditioned tourist buses operated by two companies going from the airport to Hoi An for the same price. They work from 10.30 to 16.30.
*In addition, there are also local buses going from Da Nang city centre to Hoi An (25,000 VND/1€ is the approximate price per ticket).
Taxi
There are several taxi companies available at Da Nang Airport. They include Taxi Mai Linh, Taxi Tien Sa, VinaSun Green Taxi and Dana Taxi. The fares are metered or fixed, but usually around 100,000 VND (4 €) to the city centre and 350,000-450,000 VND to Hoi An. Moreover, taxi stands are available just outside the Arrivals Hall of both terminals.
Motorcycle taxi
Additional affordable means of transport from the airport could be motorcycle taxis. Also known as xe om, motorcycle taxis are for those travelling light. They are also unaffected by traffic jams and are three times cheaper than taxis. Namely, a ride to the centre costs around 15,000 VND(0.6 €). They can be found on the motorbike parking outside of the domestic terminal.
Car hire
There are a few car rental companies including Avis that offer car rental with a private driver included. Namely, it is possible to rent a car only if you have a Vietnamese or international driver’s license. In that case, it may be hard to rent a car, too, as foreigners may not be acquainted with the local rules, but also due to the state of the roads. The price of renting a car including a driver is around 70 € per day. Avoid the hassle and queues at the airport and decide to book a car online.
Transfers
Lastly, if you prefer convenient online ways of booking transport in advance, a door-to-door transfer is a great option. A professional driver will wait and welcome you at the airport when you arrive and take you directly to your accommodation in the city.
