      No problems at all!

Took the 10:15am Jadran Express from Tirana to Budva in November and it turned about to be a very smooth journey and experience. The bus was comfortable and clean enough. It left on time, it wasn't overbooked an we got through customs without any queues delay or problems. The driver was pleasant and friendly throughout and he drove us over the mountains (in bad weather), quite skilfully. We arrived at Budva at about 5.15pm, ahead of schedule. Altogether a good experience!

      Traveling Tips

Opt for a Morning Departure: If you have flexibility in your schedule, choosing a morning bus from Tirana to Budva is recommended. This allows you to arrive in Budva while there’s still daylight, giving you more time to settle in or explore the city. Morning departures also tend to have shorter wait times at the border, as traffic usually builds up later in the day.

Prepare for a Longer Journey: Although the distance between Tirana and Budva is not too far, the journey can take 5 to 7 hours due to border control and winding roads. Make sure to pack a water bottle, snacks, and a power bank to keep your devices charged during the trip.

Know Where Your Bus Stops: Some buses take a direct route, while others make stops in Shkodër, Podgorica, or other towns along the way. If you're looking for the fastest option, check the schedule in advance and select a bus with fewer intermediate stops.

Be Aware of Currency Differences: Montenegro uses the Euro (€), while Albania uses the Albanian Lek (ALL). Although some businesses in Albania accept Euros, it’s a good idea to have a small amount of both currencies for any necessary expenses, such as food at rest stops or taxi fares upon arrival.

Prepare for the Border Crossing: The border between Albania and Montenegro can sometimes experience delays, especially during peak travel periods. Have your passport ready, and if you're a non-EU traveler, check in advance if you need a visa for Montenegro.

Have Offline Maps Ready: Once you arrive in Budva, you may need to take a taxi or public transport to your final destination. Since Wi-Fi at bus stations is not always reliable, download offline maps or have your accommodation details saved to avoid any confusion.

Keep Important Items in Your Carry-On: While buses allow for luggage storage underneath, keep valuables such as passports, wallets, and electronics in your carry-on. This is especially important at border checkpoints, where you may need to briefly leave the bus.

Plan Your Arrival in Budva: The Budva Main Bus Station is located near the city center, making it convenient to reach hotels, beaches, and tourist areas. However, if you're staying outside the center, consider pre-booking a transfer or checking local bus routes to your accommodation.
