      Traveling Tips

Choose an Early Departure for a Smoother Journey: If possible, take a morning bus from Budva to Tirana to allow extra time for border delays and avoid arriving in Tirana late at night. Early departures also mean less congestion at the border, making the trip quicker and more efficient.

Keep Essentials Within Reach: Since the journey can take 5 hours, keep essentials like water, snacks, a phone charger, and important travel documents in your carry-on bag. While buses may make a rest stop, it’s best to have what you need easily accessible.

Have Cash for Small Expenses: While credit cards are accepted in most places, smaller businesses at rest stops or border areas may only accept cash. Carrying some Euros or Albanian Lek is useful for buying snacks, drinks, or using paid restrooms.

Be Patient at the Border: Border crossings can be fast or delayed depending on traffic, time of day, and document checks. If traveling during peak tourist season, weekends, or holidays, expect possible wait times.

Download Maps or Have Offline Navigation Ready: Once you arrive at the Tirana International Bus Terminal, you may need to take a taxi or local transport to your final destination. Since Wi-Fi is not always reliable, downloading offline maps or having the address of your accommodation saved can be helpful.

Be Mindful of Your Belongings: While bus travel is safe, it’s always a good idea to keep valuables like passports, money, and electronics in a secure carry-on rather than in checked luggage. This is especially important at border crossings and bus stations, where you may need to step away from your luggage briefly.

Plan for Your Arrival in Tirana: The bus arrives at Tirana International Bus Terminal, which is a few kilometers outside the city center. Public transport options are available, but taking a taxi or rideshare is often the easiest way to reach your accommodation. Agree on a price with taxi drivers beforehand or use an app to avoid overpaying.
