Bosnia and Herzegovina has a large bus network of long distance, intercity and international buses. Bus is the most used form of public transport. Bus routes are operated by a large number of privately owned bus companies.

The main bus hubs in Bosnia are Banja Luka, Zenica, Mostar and of course Sarajevo. Sarajevo has two main bus station, one from where bus departures to the eastern part of the country and one with buses departing to the western part of the country.

International buses to and from Bosnia:

From Bosnia there are all year around connections, to these countries: Germany, Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and even Norway.

During the summer season, there is an increased number of buses to the Adriatic coast.

Good to know when travelling on bus in Bosnia:

  • During the summer season buses can be delayed due to heavy traffic.
  • Pets are not allowed by all bus companies
  • During the summer season it is usually not possible to bring a bicycle.
