...We travelled from Ljubljana to Opatija. There was a bus change in Triest which we missed. It was not so clear whether we should change busses resulting in 3h extra Travel time as we discovered it in Poresc.. However the bus drivers don't spoke English they were trying to help.
The two receptionists at getbybus I spoke to were very helpful, they were the only reason I felt reassured that the bus was on its way as they spoke to the driver direct. They also reassured me that the connecting bus from Trieste to Opatija would wait.
Although 1.5hrs late, my partner and I really appreciated the connecting bus waited for us....Crnja Tours bus was over 1.5hrs late! The experience at Ljubljana bus station wasn't great as there was no message board or indication it was way behind schedule (we thought we must have missed it even though we were early!), and it wasn't clearly marked which bus terminal to wait at. Some staff (at the bus station) were helpful in the beginning, but when I approached someone that the bus was 1.5hrs late, and just wanted to check everything was OK.. One lady was incredibly rude! There was no language barrier as she spoke perfect English and I can speak a little Slovenian/Croatian, so no excuse for her poor behaviour as 'customer service'.
Fortunately I'm quite tolerant and I work in the travel industry, but I can imagine it would be quite distressing for those with a language difficulty or not realising they can contact the bus company direct for answers. A few passengers mentioned this bus company was renowned for running late.
