Vienna – Prague

Between the Austrian capital Vienna and Prague in the Czech Republic there are plenty of daily direct bus connection, the shortest travel route between the two cities is around 290 km, the fastest route is the E50 / E461, which is the one most bus routes follow, the scheduled travel time by bus is between 4 and 5 hours.

As mentioned in our post about buses from Ljubljana to Vienna, there are several bus stations in Vienna, so it important to pay attention to which one your bus departure from. As mentioned there are quite a few daily departures between Vienna and Prague, here you can see all of them. NOTE: If you wish to travel from Vienna airport to Prague by bus, you will have to travel to the bus station in Vienna as none of the buses to Prague drives via the Vienna Airport.

When travelling the opposite direction from Prague to Vienna it is less complicated as more or less all buses departure from the Florenc bus station (a few of the bus companies offer additional boarding points in Prague). Direct buses from the Prague airport to Vienna are currently not available, so you will have to take bus from the airport to the Florenc bus station and then continue from there on.

Other travel options between Vienna and Prague:

Train: is for sure and option to consider each day there are a handful of trains between Vienna and Prague, the train travel time from Vienna main train station to Prague main train station is around 4 hours.

Flying: is obviously the fastest way of getting between the cities, each day there are several non stop flights between the cities, most of them are operated by Austrian Airlines.
