Recife International Airpot (REC), also known as Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre Aiport, is the airport serving Recife, Brazil.
Recife is the fourth-largest urban area in Brazil and the capital of the Pernambuco state in the northeast corner of Brazil.

Guararapes is among the busiest airports in Brazil. In 2020, it had more than 4,8 million passengers, after a significant decrease from 2019 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Previously, it was managed by the Brazilian government corporation Infraero. However, in 2019, Spanish company AENA won a 30-year concession to operate the airport.

Buses

Buses are the cheapest option for getting to the Recife centre. Ticket prices range from 3.45 BRL to 4.30 BRL, which is less than 1€.

A couple of bus lines drive from the Guararapes airport to the city centre and other neighbourhoods.

Taxi

There are plenty of taxis at the airport. “Táxi Especial” or “Táxi Aeroporto” are authorized airport taxis. They are waiting for you at the designated spot on ground level outside of the Arrivals terminal.  However, they are more expensive compared to the “Táxi comum”, which are the common taxis.

Taxi prices will vary depending on your destination, mostly ranging from 40 to 80 R $.

Uber is also available at the airport. Your Uber driver will be waiting for you at the taxi pick-up location in front of the arrivals terminal. The cost of your Uber drive will depend on your destination, the type of ride you requested and other factors.

Transfers
