Public Bus

Cheapest way of travelling between the airport and the city centre is to take the bus line number 119 from the airport to the Metro station Nádraží Veleslavín (the last stop on the bus route).

After that continue with the Metro A line (Green line) from there to one of the central metro stations like Mustek (Wenceslas Square), Staromestska (Old Town Square), Namesti Miru (Vinohrady) and Museum (Wenceslas Square).

When taking the public bus / metro you should know the following

  • Bus No. 119 departs from both Terminal 1 and 2, just follow the bus signs inside the Terminal buildings.
The bus departs every 5 to 20 minutes depending on the time of the day.
  • A ticket for travelling between the airport and the city centre costs less than 2 Euro.
If you have a suitcase you would have to pay about 1 Euro additionally for a luggage transport ticket.
  • The ticket you will need is a 90 minute ticket (bus, tram, metro unlimited for 90 minutes); this will be enough to get you anywhere in Prague.
  • Tickets can be purchased inside terminal 1 and 2; Prague public transport companies have clearly marked counters in both terminals.
Alternatively, there is a ticket machine for cash payment in Czech Koruna on the departure platform and also ticket machines where you can buy tickets with the most common credit cards.
The last option is to buy your ticket from the driver, but this is a bit more expensive and you anyway need Czech Koruna to do so, so you might as well buy it at the ticket machine.
NOTE: Tickets have to be validated in the stamp machines on the bus.
  • Bus No. 119 runs from around 4 AM till around midnight.
  • Total travel time to the centre of town is about 35-45 minutes.
  • At the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station, where you change from bus to Metro, there is no elevator so you will have to carry your suitcase down the stairs.
  • In addition to line 119 you have a few other public bus routes from the airport.
They might be an option if you travel to other city parts, other than the centre of town. You can see more about these buses here.

See more info about ticket prices for public bus, tram and Metro here.
As you will notice, you also have an option to buy a 1 day (24 hour) or 3 day (72 hour) ticket.

Taking a regular “yellow-cab” taxi from the airport to the centre of town is also an option.
Taxis are available in front of Terminal 1 (Exit D) and Terminal 2 (Exit E)

  • Taxi services are done according to tariffs which are calculated from a starting fee + kilometre fee and traffic waiting fee e.g. by red lights.
In best case scenario, a taxi to the centre should cost you around 23 Euro and if there is lots of traffic the price might increase to 25 Euro or more.

At Prague airport you will find all the major car rental companies like Sixt, Hertz, Europcar etc.
The car rental offices are located at the ground floor of parking C.
In the terminals you have car rental signs so just follow them.
You can check prices for rental cars from Prague airport here.

  • Car rental at the airport is usually more expensive than renting at the city stations.
  • If you are only going to Prague centre, you do not need a rented car.

Renting a bus at Prague Airport

If you are a large group arriving at Prague airport, it might pay out to rent a bus, even if you are only going to the Prague centre.

Several companies offer buses from 20 to 50, 60 or even more persons.

Rented buses have to be booked up front, in the process of the booking you will agree on where the bus will wait for you at the airport.

Prague Airport bus FAQs

I arrive late in the evening; will I still be able to catch the airport bus?

Yes, no worries, as you see above the airport bus runs till late in the evening.

I have an early morning departure from the airport, are there any airport hotels I can stay at?

Of course, there are several options for an overnight stay:
Courtyard by Marriott Prague Airport – located directly in front of the airport
Rest & Fun Center – located inside the airport, suitable for families with children
Holiday Inn Prague Airport – 5 minutes by bus 119, the bus stop is located in front of the hotel
Ramada Hotel Airport Prague – 10 minutes by bus 119

Can I pay my transportation with Euros, Dollar or Sterling?

The currency in Czech is the Koruna so it is advisable to always pay in the local currency, but in most cases you can use at least Dollar and Euro to pay for the taxi or a transfer, but you will probably get a horrible exchange rate.
It is better to take some Czech Koruna from an ATM at the airport before heading towards the city.

Are there any intercity buses driving from the Airport?

Yes, there are, you have several daily direct buses departing from Prague airport to Brno and from Prague airport to Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad).
If you travel to some other destination, you should first go to the Florence bus station from where you have bus connections to the whole Czech Republic as well as international destinations like Vienna or Dresden.

    • Maja Tramontana   •

      Hi Nina,

the most convenient option to reach Florenc station from the airport is by metro line C. However, it includes walking from the airport to the station Letňany for about 15 minutes.
Of course, you can consider taking a taxi to the station first.
Once you reach Florenc bus station, you have multiple options to reach Trebič. You can see all the details about the departures and tickets here. Just pick a traveling date.

      Best,
