The Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), also known as San José del Cabo International Airport, is an airport serving San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, and the Los Cabos area in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur State. It is located just 8 miles north of San Jose del Cabo. The airport is the sixth busiest airport in Mexico, reaching its peak in 2018 with 5 million passengers and dropping by nearly 50% during the pandemic. It serves as a hub for Aeromexico, Volaris and AeroMexico Connect. It has 2 terminals, Terminal 1 is mainly for domestic flights and Terminal 2 is entirely for international flights. The airport provides flights mostly within the rest of Latin America and the USA.

How to get from Los Cabos airport to San Jose del Cabo 

The distance between SJD and the San Jose del Cabo city centre is about 12 km which is a 20-minute ride.

Bus

The operator Ruta del Desierto offers public buses, recognizable for yellow and purple colors, that can take you to and from the airport to San Jose Del Cabo Downtown, the Tourist Corridor and Cabo San Lucas

The buses run every 10 minutes. The earliest departure from Santa Anita (South of the Airport) is from 4:30 am to 11:00 pm. It departs only from Terminal 1. If you arrive at Terminal 2, you will have to walk and take your luggage to Terminal 1 to catch the bus. 

You can purchase tickets at the Ecobajatours located within the arrivals area in Terminal 1. The bus will make drop-offs at the highway so you have to walk to the resort you are staying in. The bus can also take you from the hotel to the airport (the trip is about 1-2 h, so plan your time accordingly).

If you are traveling to the East Cape Area, Todos Santos or La Paz Ecobajatours office in Terminal 1 offers Vans instead of buses.

Taxi

Those who prefer a more comfortable ride can consider taking a taxi, which is a pricier solution. Taxi ranks are located outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and the company operating is Josefinos Transportation. To get to San Jose del Cabo you will pay about MXN $70, and to Cabo San Lucas around MXN $156.
