Krka Monastery

Krka Monastery

The Krka Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastery located about 3 km from the city Kistanje in the northern part of the National park Krka. It can be reached by car or by boat from Roski Slap. Visiting the monastery is possible with a valid ticket for the mainland areas of the national park. If you will be arriving by car, you can buy the ticket at the information desk right before arriving to the monastery.

As the monastery is still in use and has students living and studying there, visitors are only allowed to visit the roman catacombs and the orthodox church, and only under supervision of a national park employee. At the courtyard, through which the visitors have to pass in order to get to the catacombs and the church, there is a photo restriction. At the inside part of the monastery, there is also a souvenir shop which sells religious artifacts, wine and other products manufactured by the priests.

As I mentioned above, there are two ways of getting to the monastery.

By car: The city Kistanje is located 23 km from the highway exit nr. 20, once you reach the city you have clear signs towards the Krka Monastery. Be aware that there is a very limited parking space when you get down to the monastery. On the way down, you will pass by a newly built viewpoint from where you can see the monastery.
