Buses Solta Island
Island Šolta, just off the coast by Split, is one of the less know holiday islands on the Croatia coast, nevertheless it is for sure a place worthwhile considering, especially if relaxing is the main goal of your stay.
The Island is reached with ferry of catamaran from Split, which sail to the town Rogač on the west side of the island. If you visit the island without a car, you can get around using public transportation.
Bus routes on Island Šolta:
As Šolta is a relative small Island, there are only two bus routes operating on the island.
Route 1:
This route drives from the ferry port in Rogač via Grohote, Srednje Selo, Donje Selo to Maslinica, the timetable for the bus is adjusted to the arrival of ferries and Catamarans, in case of a delay the bus will wait at the ferry port, which means that the bus will not departure according to timetable in the other cities on the route. As the return route is driven with the same bus, you will obviously be able to reach the ferry port in due time before ferry and Catamaran departure.
Route 2:
This route drives from Rogač to Stomorska on the other end of the island on the way the bus stops in Grohote, Nečujam and Gornje Selo. Same relations to the ferry arrival and departure also apply to this route.
Price for buses on Island Šolta
As the buses on the island is operated by the city bus company from Split – Promet d.o.o the price is according to their general tariff system, which means that a one-way adult ticket cost between 9 and 12 Kuna, children under 6 travelling with adults is free. Luggage for the hold cost 5 Kuna per piece.
Tickets are purchased from the driver upon entering the bus; you can only paid ticket in cash, so make sure to have small Kuna notes and coins ready.
Bus stops and stations on Island Šolta
As all cities on the Island are relative small, there are no bus stations on the island just marked (or unmarked) bus stops in the cities.
The bus stop in Rogač is located at the peer where the ferry and catamarans arrive; the bus stop has a shelter, so waiting there on rainy days is also possible.
In Grohote the bus stop is located in the crossing where the road from Rogač and the roads from Maslinica and Stomorska interconnect. On one side of the road the bus stopping location is marked with yellow paint on the road.
In Maslinica you will find the bus stop by the seaside (Put Sv. Nikole), just a few metres from the entrance to the Martinis Marchi Heritage Hotel.
In Nečujam the bus stop is located where the road reaches the main beach; the stopping location is marked with yellow paint on the road, so you really can’t miss it.
In Stomorska you will found the bus stop by the roundabout at the end of harbour, which is the central spot in town.
In other cities on the Island, the bus stops on the main road through the cities, as not all stops are marked; it is advisable to ask local people where to wait for the bus. Also in the cities mention above, there might be alternative spots where you can wait for the bus; again here it is advisable to ask locals.

not sure exactly when the bus departures from Maslinica, but i would guess about 45 minutes to 1 hour before the ferry leaves, you will have to check exact time at the bus stop in Maslinica

We have a late flight into Split on 2nd July (landing18:20) and will be taking a taxi to the port. Does the bus to Maslinica meet the last ferry (20:00 sailing)?

When one gets dropped off in Necujam, are there taxi’s to get to accommodations from there? Are taxi’s usually waiting knowing the bus schedule? Or do we walk from there?

it might happen that there are taxis waiting for the passengers who pass by, but it is advisable to book a taxi in advance.
There are fewer taxis on islands than in the cities in general, so you want to ensure you get one when you need it.
This way you can also check the price in advance since the prices are not fixed in most cases.

there are bus lines (for example, 6, 8, 21) that operate regularly (every 30 minutes or so). So, there should be a bus available soon after you arrive.
