Can I exchange the money at the airport to pay for my transfer?

Yes, there are several exchange offices and ATMs at the airport, working 24/7, but it would be better to exchange the money before the trip and have some euros on you since the rate will be a lot higher on the spot and no currency other than euro is accepted.

Hi! I am confused about the airport with the code ZSB. I am aware of SZG, but it appears on Google that there is another airport with the code ZSB that is at the Salzburg Central Train Station. Pardon my utter confusion, but is there another airport located at or next to the main train station there? Please help. Thank you!

    • Melani   Author

      Dear Patzi and Kahlil,

Salzburg Airport (SZG) is the only airport in Salzburg whereas the code ZSB belongs to the Central Train Station.

i have to go from Salzburg airport to Wagrain, what is the fastet and cheapest way to get there at 20.00 pm?

    • Melani   Author

      Dear Marie,

First you need to reach Salzburg Hauptbahnhof and then go by train to St Johann im Pongau where you will transfer to bus line 530 which goes to Wagrain. Not really sure if there is a depature available at this time of the day so I suggest to get informed at the main train station in Salzburg.

arrive in salzburg airport at 14.00pm, will i make the 14.47pm bus to zell am zee?

    • Maja

      Hi Joan,

it all depends on how long it will take you to clear the custom, take your luggage and (if necessary) do the COVID-19 testing.
Also, that largely depends on the number of passengers on your flight.
However, in the best case scenario, you should catch the bus.

I go to Salzburg often and have to get a taxi from the airport to the city. When I went in February the taxi driver charged €30 he seemed to take a longer route for no reason. Having never paid so much before, what should I do if this happens when I go in August?

    • Maja

      Hi,

in that case, we suggest you avoid taxis and decide between the local bus and a train if possible.
In case you really prefer taking a taxi instead of public transport, we suggest you ask for the price before the ride.

      Best,
      GBB Team

You can find the detailed schedule for weekdays and weekends in the text.

Do ticket machines, bus drivers and taxi drivers take credit cards? Or should I exchange money to EURO?

    Thanks you!

    • Marija Štrljić

      Hi Antje,

credit cards are generally accepted, but I recommend having some Euros on hand for small purchases and places where cards might not be accepted. Ticket machines for public transportation, like buses and trams, usually accept both cash and cards. Bus drivers usually accept cash for tickets, and taxi drivers typically take credit/debit cards. Smaller businesses usually prefer cash, and most restaurants accept cards, especially in tourist areas. You can exchange money at the airport, local banks, or ATMs to make sure you have Euros for your trip.

      Best,
      GBB Team
