Riga airport is the international airport of Latvian capital serving the area nearby as well. It is the largest airport in the Baltic states with direct flights to more than 100 destinations in over 30 countries. The airport serves as a hub for RAF-Avia, airBaltic, SmartLynx Airlines and as a base for Wizz Air and Ryanair. Located in the Mārupe Municipality west of the city, it has served more than 6 million passengers in 2017.

Public transport: There are few bus lines which operate to the city centre and viceversa. The journey takes about 25 – 30 minutes, depending on the traffic. One ticket costs 1.15€ if bought in advance or 2€ when bought from the driver.

Taxi: If you prefer a comfortable ride over a crowded public transport, we recommend you to take a taxi, which are located in front of the terminal building. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Before entering the car, please pay attention to the rates indicated on the vehicle’s right rear door as they differ from taxi to taxi.

Transfer: If you don’t like using the public transport and hesitate to take a taxi, consider booking a private transfer which will wait for you on the airport and take you to your destination. Q: I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

A: Three bus lines which drive to the city centre operate approximately until midnight. However, if you don’t catch any of them, you can always take a taxi which are at your disposal 24/7, just make sure you check its price in advance.

Q: I have an early morning departure from the airport, are there any airport hotels I can stay at?

A: Yes, there are few hotels nearby where you can spend the night in case to make it to your early flight, the closest one being Sky High hotel only 0.3 km from the airport where one night in average costs 40€. Hotel Mara is 1.7 km from the airport for 48€ per night, and it is followed by Jurmala apartments 2.5 km away for 27€.

Q: I would like to visit Riga in between flights. Is that possible?

A: Yes, the airport is well connected to the city by the several bus lines, and the journey takes around 30 minutes, but, just in case, check your timing twice in order to avoid being late or stuck in the traffic.
