The closest train station to Marseille Airport is called Vitrolles-Aerport Marseilles Provence train station and it can be reached by a free shuttle bus which departs from bus platform nr.5. A single ticket for second class to Marseille costs €5.20.
RTM or Régie des transports de Marseille is the local public transportation operator and it manages all the means of transportation in Marseilles (tramway, metro, bus):

From MRS to Avignon:
- Take the shuttle bus from Marseilles Airport to Vitrolles Airport station (less than 5 minutes)

Yes, of course. The best way to do so is to take the shuttle bus which takes you directly from the airport to the city centre (St. Charles train station) and it is the most convenient way of transportation.
