Budapest Airport FAQs

I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

No, if you arrive after 11 PM, there are night buses from the airport leaving every 30 to 60 minutes, so the only thing you can worry about is having to wait a bit for the next bus. And don’t forget to change the bus at Bajcsy- Zsilinszky Ut! If this sounds too complicated, you can always take the taxi or a transfer. They are available 24/7.

I have an early morning departure from the airport. Are there any airport hotels I can stay at?

Yes, there’s Ibis Styles Budapest Airport, which is the only hotel located at the airport.
Also, there are several hotels near the airport, some of them at just 1.5 km distance. Airport Hotel Budapest even offers free shuttle service to the airport.

I would like to visit Budapest in between flights. Is this possible?

Yes, there are a few bus lines and a shuttle service, whatever you choose you will be in the center in less than an hour. The same time/routes are required when coming back to the airport, so mind the time and enjoy your day in Budapest!

Can I exchange money at the airport to pay for my transfer?

Yes, you can exchange money at Interchange counters, and there are several ATMs in the arrivals area and in transit areas of terminals 2A and 2B, available 24/7.

Can I travel by bus to Vienna, Zagreb, Bratislava or Prague from the airport?

No. Unfortunately, there are currently no international bus lines operating from the airport.
But if you go to the main bus station in Budapest (See how to get there above), you have frequent buses between Budapest and Vienna, Budapest and Zagreb as well as between Budapest and Bratislava and Budapest and Prague.
In addition to those routes, there are domestic buses to most cities in Hungary as well as to many other international destinations.

    Hi,
I will use the train to get off at the Ferihegy stop. My understanding is that it is at terminal 1. How can I get from terminal 1 to terminal 2?
    1) Would any local bus line be available? If so, where can I buy a bus ticket?
    2) How much can I expect to pay for a taxi?
    3) Is there any other transportation options?
    Thank you!

    • Maja   •

      Hi Viktoria,

the easiest option is to take a bus 200E to the Ferihegy stop (at Terminal 1). The bus connects these two terminals.
If you decide to take a taxi instead, expect to pay up to 10 euros.

      Best,
