Biarritz Airport Bus

Biarritz airport, also known as Biarritz Pays Basque airport or Biarritz-Parme airport, is located just 5 km southeast of Biarritz city center. It is a minor international airport in France and mostly offers seasonal flights to western European capitals and connections with bigger French airports throughout the year. On yearly basis, Biarritz airport handles around 1 million passengers. Biarritz is a famous seaside resort and is the last bigger town before the Spanish border.

Travelling to and from the airport doesn’t take much time, due to its vicinity, but since it is a minor, mainly seasonal airport, there aren’t many transport options to choose from.

How to get from Biarritz Airport to Biarritz

Public transport

Public buses connect the airport with Biarritz city center, train station, and the beach and camping resort, but also provide the connection with Bayonne and Anglet. The price of the ticket for single journey is €1,20, and the 1-day ticket costs €2,20.

Two bus lines run between the airport and Biarritz, Bayonne, Anglet and Bidart. It is easy to find the bus stop because it’s located right outside the terminal (Arrivals area). The Chronoplus buses lines C and 14 take you to the aforementioned destinations, and you can check more information about it online.

The price for a taxi from the airport to the center is around €12. If you want to go to the nearby town of Bayonne you will pay aprrox. €15 for the taxi ride.

Renting a car at Biarritz Airport

There are five car rental companies at Biarritz airport, including Sixt, Avis, Europcar, etc. so you can compare the terms and conditions as well as the price. However you can book your car online and save time.

Renting a bus at Biarritz Airport

If you are a large group arriving to the airport, you might consider renting a bus prior to your arrival. Buses are offered by several bus rental companies in the area. It is advisable to book the bus a couple of weeks in advance so you can arrange all the details with the bus rental company (regarding the pick-up point at the airport, etc.).

Biarritz Airport FAQs

I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

No, since Biarritz is a seasonal airport the buses usually follow flight arrivals. And transfers and taxis run 24/7.

I have an early morning departure from Biarritz airport, are there any airport hotels I can stay at?

There are a few hotels and villas located nearby, 800 meters to 1 km from the airport, so you can check them out. Even if it’s not at walking distance (especially if you have a lot of luggage on you), the price for the taxi will be minimal.

I am continuing my journey outside Biarritz. Are there any direct bus lines to other destinations?

Yes, there are buses from the airport to Anglet (via Biarritz Gare) and Bayonne, as well as to some other smaller towns in the area, like Hendaye and Saint-Jean-de-Luz. You can also reach Bayonne Gare station with Chronoplus bus line 14 directly from the airport and there take the train or bus to Pau, Lourdes, Toulouse, Ustaritz, Cambo-les-Bains, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Capbreton, Hossegor, Soustons, Vieux Boucau, Mimizan, etc. Also, there are several bus lines that will take you to Spain (Irun, San Sebastian, Pamplona and Bilbao) directly from the airport.

We are flying into Biarritz Airport on 12/5/18 we are. Group of 4 adults going to lourdes what is our best means of transport

    • Melani Grubić Mikulić   •

      Dear Maggie,

The best option is to take a train to Biarritz train station first. Then you take train line 866429 (Hendaye) to Gare de Dax and there transfer to 8583 (Paris-Montparnasse 1-2) which passes through Lourdes.

      Best regards!

Hello. I will be arriving on 27th June at 21:30. Will I be able to get a bus into Biarritz at this time, or would you suggest booking a transfer? Thanks

    • Melani   •

      Dear Vicky,

I have checked the official timetable and it seems that the last bus from the airport leaves at 20:20, so I think it would be better to book a transfer in this case.

I will be arriving at Biarritz airport at 2130 on wednesday with my two young sons. Is there public transport to take me to Eurocamp at Le Vieux Port? Alternatively, how much would a taxi cost?

    • Melani   •

      Dear Sandra,
First you need to take a bus from the airport to Bayonnes Train and Bus Station. Once you get there, you need to take a bus to Messanges. (might be under the name “Miziman” a main destination further north). Before arriving in Messanges, there is a mini roundabout and a supermarket on the right hand side. You’ll find the entrance to Le Vieux Port across this supermarket.

      Best regards!

    Hi

I will be arriving in Biarritz Airport this Oct and will need to connect to Lourdes. My flight will arrive around 6 pm. Is there an easy connection to Lourdes since we will be traveling with luggages? I read your post about taking the “Chronoplus bus line 14 to Bayonne Gare station there take the train or bus to Lourdes”. May I know where I can find the bus stop for the Chronoplus line and how long will the total journey be up to Lourdes?

Am I better taking a cab?

Thanks a lot for your time.

    • Melani   •

      Dear Cristina,

You can reach Gare de Bayonne either by line 14 or line C. Stop for both buses is located on the left side of the airport entrance. Journey to Lourdes takes around 1 hr and 40 mins by Intercités train.

      Best regards!

    Hello
Arriving at 17.05 on Monday 26th Sept and will have luggage in the hold due to size. How long would it take to get from plane, collect luggage and be outside for a bus to San Sebastain please? Bus is at 18.10?
Also return flight at 17.35 can I arrive at the airport on 16.05 bus or do I have to take early one arriving at 13.05 (long wait) ??
    Thank you

    • Maja   •

      Hi Clare,

an hour should be enough to pick up your luggage and catch a bus, but we cannot tell you with certainty because that depends on many factors.
Regarding the return, it is advisable to be at the airport about 2 hours before the flight.

      Best,
      GBB Team
